Vermont Suicide Prevention Symposium

Call For Proposals

The Symposium will take place virtually on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

This event brings together national, regional, and Vermont stakeholders to facilitate collaborations and strengthen suicide prevention. Each workshop presentation during the Symposium will run for one hour and include an additional 15-minute segment for question and answer at the end, for a total time of one hour and 15 minutes per workshop. We welcome all proposals on suicide prevention topics.

TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL

The proposal deadline is June 12, 2023.
All presenters chosen will be eligible to receive compensation.

Topics Include

  • Best practice/innovations/improvements in clinical care
  • Suicide prevention and mental health across the lifespan
  • Lethal means reduction (including firearms and poisoning)
  • Benefits of peer support
  • Learning from loss survivors and those with lived experience
  • Finding connection and hope
  • Community level prevention and postvention
  • Reducing stigma
  • High risk populations

SYMPOSIUM AUDIENCE

The Symposium benefits anyone with an interest in learning more about current and forthcoming resources, best practices, and ongoing conversations surrounding suicide and self-harm prevention. This includes and is not limited to those with lived experience, advocates, professionals working within education, healthcare, social services, substance misuse programming, mental health services, workforce development, youth and family engagement, and anyone who wants to get involved in this important work.
