This workshop provides an improved understanding and practical approaches for evaluating and managing individuals with suicidal ideation in Rural communities.

Presentation Summary:

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States accounting for over 47,500 deaths in 2019. Additionally there were over 1.38 Million suicide attempts in 2019. This presentation will highlight the major risk factors for suicidal ideation in individuals with substance use disorders. It will assist practitioners in describing screening methods for evaluating suicidal ideation and identifying key elements of safety planning for persons with suicidal ideation.
